Started from Ounaminoike-tozanguchi (大浪池登山口), walked around the pond then up to Karakuni dake (韓国岳) which is the highest point of the area. Explored a bit the top and the near by trailheads, then down till Ebi-no-kogen (えびの高原). Reachable by bus from Kirishima-Iwasaki Hotel (霧島いわさきホテル) to Ounaminoike-tozanguchi (大浪池登山口) and back from Ebinokogen (えびの高原) to Kirishima-Iwasaki Hotel (霧島いわさきホテル). Another bus connects Kirishima-Iwasaki Hotel (霧島いわさきホテル) from/to Kirishima-Jingū Station (霧島神宮駅). The crater and ponds magnificent, the wind was strong in a good weather!!!
